Managing a chronic disease like diabetes can be exhausting. You’ve probably been asked to check your blood sugar at least once a day and take an array of medications, and you may have been told to “lose weight, stop eating carbs, and control your appetite”. You may have heard that losing weight can “reverse” diabetes, so you’ve tried to restrict your food intake, but you’ve always managed to put the weight back on (plus some). At this point, it may feel like you’ve tried everything you can think of but you still struggle to stick to all the rules, and your diabetes is just getting worse.
Always remember, YOU are in charge of your own body, and YOU know it best. We are simply here to help you rediscover the joy of eating and living in your body, while helping you make self-informed decisions around managing your blood sugar. We will support you on this journey to regain joy in food and movement by helping to increase your confidence in your own ability to successfully manage your blood sugar without a focus on weight loss, restriction, or excessive exercise. HOW OFTEN: Most clients are seen every 2-4 weeks to start, and less frequently as time goes on. Nutrition counseling is most effective when you have regular appointments to check in on progress, receive nutrition guidance and develop new goals. |
